Across the harbour at Priddy's Hard, Gosport, in the old gunpowder magazines of the Royal Navy's main armaments depot. The exhibits tell the story of naval ordnance from gunpowder and cannonballs to modern guided missiles — guns, shells, mines, and torpedoes are displayed in the converted brick storehouses.
The Grand Magazine of 1771, the oldest surviving naval gunpowder magazine in the world, is the centrepiece. Reach it via the Gosport Ferry from the Portsmouth Hard; the museum is a 15-minute walk along the waterfront from the ferry pontoon.
