The Golden Gate Theater is a 1920s San Francisco theatre with Art Deco and Gothic Revival touches, designed by Gustave Albert Lansburgh. Its big auditorium and elaborate interior make it one of the more impressive historic performance spaces around Market Street.
It is mainly worth seeking out if you are seeing a show or tracing the city's old theatre district. Even from the street, the building adds a bit of faded grandeur to the Tenderloin edge of downtown.
