The Orpheum Theater

The Orpheum Theater is one of San Francisco's grand old performance houses, opened in the 1920s and later restored for large touring productions. Its ornate interior and big auditorium make it feel like a surviving piece of the city's prewar theatre district.

Most visitors come for Broadway shows, concerts, and special events rather than for architecture alone. It sits on Market Street near Civic Center, an easy add-on if you are already in the area.
