MacPhail Center for Music is a community music school and performance venue that has been part of the Minneapolis music ecosystem since 1907 — one of the oldest community music schools in the United States. The centre moved to its current building near the riverfront in 2010, a purpose-built facility designed by James Dayton Design with good acoustics and an active performance calendar.
The centre presents regular public concerts in its recital hall, ranging from student performances to professional chamber music events. Admission is typically low or free. The building is near the Mill City Museum and the riverfront, making it easy to combine with a visit to the waterfront area.
