The Citadel is a historic military college founded in 1842. It is an active campus rather than a museum, but visitors can see its formal military layout and, when school is in session, the Friday afternoon dress parades that are usually open to the public.
It is best treated as a respectful campus visit or a planned stop for a parade, not as a general-access attraction. Public tours may be arranged through the school.
