Cowtown Coliseum

A 1908 brick arena at the heart of the Stockyards, originally built for the Feeders and Breeders Show and now hosting the Stockyards Championship Rodeo every Friday and Saturday night, plus periodic Wild West shows. The interior keeps the original wooden bench seating, packed close enough that you are within touching distance of the bull-riders.

Tickets are inexpensive and seldom sold out. A good rodeo is two hours of bareback, saddle bronc, steer wrestling, calf roping, barrel racing, and bull riding, with country music between events.

A story
The first indoor rodeo in history was held in this building in 1918 — until then rodeos had always been outdoor events. Cowtown Coliseum invented the modern format.
