Sundance Square is the heart of restored downtown Fort Worth — a thirty-five-block district of renovated late-nineteenth and early-twentieth-century buildings, kept lively by being mixed-use rather than purely commercial. The Bass family's foundation drove most of the restoration in the 1980s and 1990s, including a pedestrian-only central plaza built where surface car parks once stood.
The plaza hosts free concerts and movie nights in summer. Surrounding blocks have the Sid Richardson Museum, Bass Performance Hall, a working cinema, and a wide spread of bars and restaurants.
