Para Ti is Bolivia's best-known artisan chocolatier, founded in Sucre in 1995. The shop and cafe on Calle Audiencia, half a block from the central plaza, sells single-origin Bolivian chocolate (cacao from the Alto Beni region, just north of La Paz), pralines, truffles, hot chocolate, and a respectable line of chocolate-themed pastries. The chocolate is excellent: dense, bittersweet, with the strong tropical-fruit notes that distinguish good South American beans.
The cafe is small, sunlit, and busy with morning visitors taking coffee and chocolate cake. Several other Para Ti branches exist across Bolivia but the Sucre shop is the original and stocks the widest range. Take a bar home as the perfect Bolivian souvenir.
