Museo de Historia del Arte, often shortened to MuHAr, is Montevideo's wide-ranging art history museum near the municipal government building. Its collections include archaeological pieces, reproductions, casts, and material that tries to place Uruguayan viewers in a broader world history of art.
It is not as essential as the Torres García Museum for a short stay, but it is a useful, low-key stop if you are nearby or interested in how a small capital teaches global art history. The museum also gives a reason to look more closely at the civic centre around the Intendencia.
