A long, narrow artificial lake in the middle of the Dhanmondi residential district, ringed with a walking and cycling path, benches, food stalls, and small gardens. Dhanmondi Lake is one of the few genuinely pleasant public outdoor spaces in Dhaka — somewhere locals use for early morning walking, evening socialising, and weekend picnics. Paddle boats can be rented at several points along the shore.
The lake is at its most pleasant in the early morning and at dusk. In the heat of midday it is less appealing. The surrounding streets have a good concentration of restaurants and coffee shops, making a walk around the lake a natural prelude to lunch or dinner in Dhanmondi.
