The Museum of Coastal Defence occupies the old Lei Yue Mun Fort, a strong defensive position guarding the eastern approach to Victoria Harbour. The galleries trace Hong Kong's coastal defences from the Qing period through British rule, the Japanese occupation, and the post-war years.
The setting lifts it above a standard military museum. Batteries, casemates, and outdoor paths spread across the headland, with harbour views that make the fort's purpose easy to understand.
