Temple Street comes alive after dark, when vendors set up stalls selling watches, clothing, electronics, and miscellaneous goods along several blocks of the street between Jordan Road and Kansu Street. The market officially opens around 2pm but only becomes worth visiting after sundown, around 7pm, when it fills with noise, light, and crowds.
Wander north toward Public Square Street and you'll find the Yau Ma Tei Tin Hau Temple complex — four temples grouped together, dedicated to the sea goddess Tin Hau, the earth god Tei, the mercy goddess Kuan Yim, and the magistrate Shing Wong. The open-air dai pai dong (street food stalls) along Temple Street serve decent seafood at straightforward prices. Fortune tellers and street opera performances occasionally appear in the evenings.
