Shek O

Remote beach village on Hong Kong Island's southeastern tip

Shek O is the most remote beach on Hong Kong Island and has retained an older, quieter character than the more popular spots. The village has Thai and seafood restaurants facing the sea, and the beach itself is wide enough to find space even on busy days. The surrounding headland has good walking paths with views over the South China Sea.

Take the MTR to Shau Kei Wan (Island Line), then bus 9 to the terminus at Shek O. The ride takes about 40 minutes and is scenic enough to be part of the excursion.
