A municipal recreational park north of central Ipoh built around an old quarry lake at the foot of Gunung Lang. The trick is the access: the park's other half is on an island in the lake, reached by a short boat ride on a flat-bottomed ferry that runs every few minutes. On the island side are an artificial sand beach, a small free zoo with deer and ostriches, a butterfly garden, several walking trails up the limestone, and a viewpoint platform at the top.
Locals come at weekends; on a weekday morning you can have the place largely to yourself. Modest entrance fee includes the boat. Allow half a day.
