The Tanjung Tualang Tin Dredge is a huge survivor from Perak's tin-mining boom, when floating machines scooped alluvial deposits from riverbeds and ponds on an industrial scale. Seeing the dredge in place makes the mining history around Ipoh far easier to grasp than a display case alone.
There is a small museum, and tours may take you around or inside the dredge depending on the current setup. It is outside central Ipoh, but worthwhile if you are interested in the industry that built much of the region's wealth.
