Delhi Gate

The Delhi Gate is the eastern entrance to the Walled City — the gate from which the road historically led to Delhi. It is the best-preserved of Lahore's six surviving gates, with two squat octagonal turrets flanking a deep barrel-vaulted arch. Beyond it begins the Royal Trail (Shahi Guzargah), the restored bazaar route through to the fort.

The gate area has been smartened up by the Walled City of Lahore Authority and is now one of the easier places to start exploring the Androon Shahr. The Shahi Hammam — a 17th-century Mughal bathhouse — is fifty paces inside the gate and worth the short detour.
