The Fakir Khana is one of the largest privately-held museums in South Asia — the collection of the Fakir family, who served as ministers and diplomats to Ranjit Singh. Three brothers (Fakir Azizuddin, Fakir Imamuddin, and Fakir Nuruddin) accumulated, over decades, paintings, manuscripts, weapons, textiles, and Sikh-court relics that fill room after room of the family haveli inside the Walled City.
The museum is in the family home and is opened on request — phone ahead, or ask a Walled City guide to arrange a visit. The descendants still live there. It is one of the most extraordinary collections in Pakistan, and one of the easiest to miss.
