A grand Sikh-period courtyard mansion in the heart of the Walled City — built around 1830 for Kanwar Nau Nihal Singh, grandson of Ranjit Singh and briefly Maharaja of the Sikh Empire. The four-storey building has elaborate carved-wood balconies, frescoed interior rooms, and a courtyard arrangement that is one of the finest surviving examples of Sikh-period domestic architecture.
The haveli has long functioned as a girls' school (Victoria Girls' School), and access to the interior depends on it being open and the headmistress being amenable. The painted ceilings of the upper rooms, when you can see them, are exceptional.
