A well-maintained path circles the entire Zeller See, covering around 13km in the full loop. It's flat, mostly car-free, and passes through a succession of small villages, the lakeside campsite, and the nature reserve at the south end of the lake. On foot the circuit takes around 3 hours; by bike it can be done comfortably in 1.5 hours.
Bikes are available to hire in the town centre from several outlets. The lakeside boat in summer offers a shortcut across the water if you want to do only half the loop on foot. The northern section of the path, towards Maishofen, is quieter and offers the best views back towards the town and the Schmittenhöhe.
