Croatian National Theatre

Mostar's main theatre, base for drama and seasonal cultural festivals.

On the west bank of the Neretva, the Croatian National Theatre is the principal theatre venue in Mostar, presenting drama in Croatian as well as international productions on tour. It traces its lineage back to the early 19th century and remains an important focus of cultural life on the western side of the city.

The building hosts the Mostar Spring festival each April, with concerts, theatre, and dance, and a programme of plays through the rest of the year. Even if there is nothing on stage, the lobby and the adjacent square are worth a look — the area was one of the first parts of central Mostar to be rebuilt after the war.
