Kriva Ćuprija (Crooked Bridge)

Smaller, older Ottoman bridge a few minutes upstream — a prototype for the Stari Most.

A short walk upstream from the Stari Most, the Kriva Ćuprija is its older, smaller cousin. The single stone arch crosses the Radobolja, a tributary that empties into the Neretva, and dates from 1558 — eight years before the Old Bridge. Tradition says it was a test run to prove that the bigger bridge would stand.

The bridge sits in a quieter part of the old town, surrounded by restaurants with riverside terraces. It was washed away by floods in 2000 and rebuilt using the original stones recovered from the streambed. It is unfenced, walkable, and one of the most photogenic corners of Mostar in the late afternoon.
