Fyns Kunstmuseum, founded in 1885, occupies a stately neoclassical building near the cathedral. The collection focuses on Danish art from the late 18th century onwards, with particular strength in the Funen painters — Johannes Larsen, Peter Hansen, and Fritz Syberg — who in the 1890s and 1900s painted the island's gentle landscape with a luminous, intimate eye.
Other rooms cover the Skagen painters, the Danish Golden Age, and 20th-century modernism. The building itself is worth the visit: galleries arranged around an atrium with original parquet floors and skylights.
