Odense River

Tree-lined river walk south of the centre, with a footpath all the way to the Funen Village

Odense Å threads south through the city, between the centre and the Funen Village, with a continuous riverside path that runs for nearly 10 km. The middle stretch through Munke Mose is the best — a long, gentle, willow-shaded park where rowing boats can be hired in summer and the river is wide enough for ducks and swans.

The path is the easiest way to walk between the Hans Christian Andersen Museum and The Funen Village, passing the zoo and several small lakes. In winter, with the cathedral spire visible behind bare trees, it is one of the prettiest walks in any Danish city.
