The Funen Village

Open-air museum of traditional Funen farmhouses and workshops

Den Fynske Landsby is an open-air museum with more than 20 rural buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries — farmhouses, a smithy, a windmill and watermill, a vicarage, a school, and an almshouse. Agriculture and cattle-raising are practised using traditional methods, and craft workshops run during the summer months.

The village is at its best in summer when costumed staff demonstrate period crafts and farm animals roam the grounds. In December it hosts a popular Christmas market. It is about a 20-minute walk south of the city centre along the river.
