Agios Ioannis Beach

A quiet sandy bay on the southwest coast of Mykonos, about 7 km from town. Agios Ioannis is known as the location used for the 1988 film Shirley Valentine, which brought it briefly to international attention and earned it the nickname "Shirley Valentine Beach." The bay is sheltered, scenic, and significantly calmer than the party beaches further east along the coast.

A small taverna operates at the beach in season. The beach is accessible by taxi or car; there is no direct bus service. The village of Agios Ioannis above the bay has a few rooms to let.
