The longest beach on Mykonos, about 11 km southeast of town. Elia is wide and sandy, with clear water and a more relaxed atmosphere than the Paradise and Super Paradise party beaches nearby. It is traditionally popular with gay visitors and has a mixed, easygoing crowd. There is a beach club but the vibe is laid-back compared to the frenetic energy of the southern party beaches.
Reaching Elia requires either a caïque from Platis Gialos, a taxi, or a car — there is no direct bus. In exchange for the slightly longer journey, you get a beach that feels a little less discovered even in the height of summer.
