Triton's Fountain

A late-19th-century fountain that anchors Trapani's Piazza Vittorio Emanuele.

Triton's Fountain sits in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, where Trapani's 19th-century expansion meets the older streets leading toward the harbour. Its octagonal basin was built in 1890 to celebrate the arrival of modern running water, a civic milestone that made the square one of the symbolic entrances to the newer city.

The sculptural group was added in the mid-20th century, giving the fountain its sea-god centerpiece and a more theatrical presence among the palms. It is not a long visit, but it is a useful orientation point at the eastern edge of the old-town walk and a photogenic stop on the way to Villa Margherita or the seafront.
