The Monastery of Saint Naum sits at the southern end of Lake Ohrid, where clear spring water feeds the lake below wooded slopes and the Albanian border is close by. The church is one of the classic Ohrid excursions, with Byzantine layers, peacocks in the grounds, and a shoreline setting that makes the journey feel worthwhile.
It is far enough from Ohrid town to feel like a day trip, but it belongs in the same lake story as Kaneo, Plaosnik, and the old town churches. Boats are the most memorable way to arrive in season; by road, leave time for the spring pools and the lakeside path rather than rushing straight back.
