Zaum Monastery is one of Lake Ohrid's quieter medieval sites, set by the water south of Trpejca and away from the easy town-centre circuit. The small church dates from the 14th century and still carries fresco fragments that reward a close look, especially if you have already seen the better-known churches in Ohrid itself.
Part of the appeal is the approach. Zaum is most often reached by boat from Trpejca or as part of a lakeshore walk, so the visit feels more like a small excursion than a checklist stop. Go in settled weather, take water, and do not assume regular transport will be waiting when you are ready to leave.
