Ohrid's old town is the main attraction. Walk from the harbour up through the lanes to the Church of St John at Kaneo, the Plaošnik complex, and Samuel's Fortress at the top of the hill — half a day at an unhurried pace. The Church of Saint Sophia is essential for its 11th-century frescoes. The Ancient Theatre and the Robevi family house fill in the Hellenistic and Ottoman layers. Out on the lake itself, the boat trips to Sveti Naum are the most enjoyable way to see the southern shore.
