The AKI Academy for Art and Design is one of the Netherlands' better-known art schools, part of Saxion University of Applied Sciences. The school building in Roombeek is part of the post-disaster reconstruction architecture and is open to visits during exhibitions and open days.
The school holds graduation exhibitions in June that are open to the public, and these are some of the best opportunities to see new Dutch art and design work outside the major cities. The student population gives the Roombeek area much of its creative energy.
