City Hall (Magistrat)

Baroque city hall with Robba's fountain on the square

Ljubljana's City Hall sits on Mestni trg, originally erected in 1484 and rebuilt in Baroque style in 1718. Step through the entrance to find an arcaded courtyard with the Narcissus Fountain by Francesco Robba. The courtyard is open to visitors and worth a look even if you are just passing through.

In front of the building stands the Robba Fountain of the Three Carniolan Rivers (1751), one of Ljubljana's most recognizable landmarks. The three figures represent the Sava, Krka, and Ljubljanica rivers. The original was moved to the National Gallery for preservation; the one on the square is a faithful copy.
