The Tomb of National Heroes is a compact memorial to Slovenian resistance figures from the Second World War. Created in 1949, it sits close to Ljubljana's central museums and public buildings, so it is easy to fold into a walk through the city centre.
It is not a long visit, but it adds a sober piece of modern Slovenian history to the more familiar bridges, churches and riverside cafes nearby.
