Tivoli Park

Tivoli Park is the largest green space in Ljubljana, stretching northwest from the edge of the old town toward the forested Rožnik Hill. The formal section near the entrance — a long tree-lined promenade designed by Plečnik — leads to a small baroque castle (Tivoli Castle) that now houses the International Centre of Graphic Arts. Beyond the formal garden, the park becomes informal woodland with trails.

The park is where Ljubljana residents go for a run, a walk with dogs, or an afternoon in the sun. The rose garden and the children's playground fill the formal section; the upper trails into the forest take you above the noise of the city. Rožnik Hill at the northern edge of the park has a small church and a good viewpoint looking back over the city.
