El Nogalera is the neighbourhood in the centre of Torremolinos that has been the hub of the town's gay scene since the 1970s, making it one of the oldest and most established LGBTQ+ areas on the Costa del Sol. The streets around Plaza Nogalera are lined with bars and clubs that stay open very late, drawing a mixed crowd that includes both the gay community and mainstream tourists.
The neighbourhood gives Torremolinos a different character from most Costa del Sol resorts — more diverse, more relaxed about who people are, and more interesting after dark. Pride events here attract visitors from across Spain and abroad. During the day the area is quiet; after midnight it is the most lively part of town.
