Linnaeus's summer estate at Hammarby, 12 km southeast of Uppsala, is preserved much as it was during his lifetime. The wooden manor house, outbuildings, and surrounding grounds offer a glimpse into the private life of the great botanist — this is where he retreated to write and where he taught advanced students in an open-air lecture theatre among the fields. Open May to August; reachable by bus or taxi from central Uppsala.
