The largest Gothic cathedral in Northern Europe and the dominant landmark of York. The interior is huge and the medieval stained glass is exceptional — the Great East Window, completed in 1408, is the largest single expanse of medieval stained glass in the world. You can climb the central tower for views over the city. Allow at least half a day.
