A 1927 paddle-wheel riverboat permanently moored on the Sacramento waterfront in Old Sacramento, now operating as a hotel and restaurant. The Delta King was built in Stockton to serve the Sacramento River passenger route between Sacramento and San Francisco — a journey that took all night in one direction and was considered more comfortable than the rough valley roads.
The boat was decommissioned in 1941 and spent decades in various states of abandonment before being restored and moored in Old Sacramento in 1989. As a hotel it has a certain novelty, and the restaurant's location on the upper deck with river views is one of the better settings for dinner in the historic district. Even non-guests can visit the boat; the main deck is accessible and the bar is open to walk-ins.
