Sacramento RiverCats

The Sacramento River Cats are the Triple-A Pacific Coast League affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, playing at Sutter Health Park on the Sacramento River west of Old Sacramento. Minor league baseball in Sacramento has a long tradition — the Solons played here from 1903 to 1976 — and the current stadium, with its view of the river and the Tower Bridge, is one of the more pleasant ballparks in American minor league baseball.

Tickets are much cheaper than major league games and the players are often genuinely talented — Triple-A rosters are frequently raided by parent clubs in need of callups. Summer evenings at Sutter Health Park, with the river behind the outfield wall and the temperature dropping from the afternoon peak, are a satisfying Sacramento experience.
