Fort Rosecrans

Fort Rosecrans is a former coastal defence site on Point Loma, built to protect San Diego Bay and the naval base. Remnants of the military works survive near one of the city's strongest viewpoints over the harbour and Pacific.

The site is also known for Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, whose rows of white markers follow the ridge above the water. It fits naturally with Cabrillo National Monument and the Point Loma coastal viewpoints.
