Windansea Beach is one of La Jolla's classic surf beaches, known for powerful breaks, sculpted rocks, and the simple palm-covered Surf Shack that has become a local landmark. It has little in the way of facilities, which is part of the appeal: this is a place for watching skilled surfers and scrambling over wave-smoothed sandstone.
Swimming can be rough, especially for visitors who do not know the currents. Come for the view, the surf culture, and the late-afternoon light on the rocks.
