The Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum is a small but well-done museum in the actual rowhouse where Ruth was born in 1895, two blocks from Camden Yards. The museum covers his Baltimore childhood, his career with the Red Sox and Yankees, and his place in baseball history. The connection between the man and the city is often overlooked — Ruth spent the most formative years of his life in Baltimore before Boston bought his contract.
The museum is small enough to see in 45 minutes and the exhibits are thoughtfully put together. The proximity to Camden Yards makes it an obvious pre-game stop. The neighbourhood itself has changed enormously since Ruth's time — the old working-class rowhouses have mostly been replaced — but the birthplace itself has been preserved.
