Lamberton Conservatory

Glasshouse of tropical plants and seasonal flowers inside Highland Park

Lamberton Conservatory is the small glasshouse inside Highland Park, and it gives Rochester a warm, green refuge when the weather outside is doing upstate New York things. The rooms move through palms, desert plants, tropical foliage, and seasonal displays, with turtles and quail adding a little life among the leaves.

It is best treated as part of a Highland Park visit rather than a stand-alone expedition. In lilac season it makes an easy indoor counterpoint to the gardens; in winter it is even better, because a half hour under glass can feel like a minor rescue.
