Praia do Matadeiro feels more remote than it is because you arrive on foot from Armação rather than by car. The beach opens into a clean curve of sand, surf, hillside green, and a few simple places to eat, with far less urban clutter than many Florianópolis beaches.
Surfers like the waves, but non-surfers come for the setting and the sense of stepping just beyond the road network. Check sea conditions before swimming, and bring what you need if you plan to linger outside the busiest season.
