Praia do Moçambique

Long, wilder Atlantic beach on northern Florianópolis, edged by dunes and conservation land

Praia do Moçambique is one of the longest and least urban-feeling beaches on Florianópolis, stretching along the island's north-east with dunes, surf, and a broad sense of space. It feels less packaged than the resort beaches, partly because conservation land keeps development back.

Bring what you need and be realistic about the sea: this is an Atlantic beach with stronger conditions than the sheltered bays. Its great pleasure is walking, watching the surf, and seeing how wild the island can still feel close to busy holiday districts.
