La Séptima — Carrera 7 — is Bogota's backbone, running roughly north-south from La Candelaria through Chapinero and into the northern suburbs. The stretch between Calle 11 and Calle 26, closed to traffic on Sundays as part of the Ciclovía, becomes a pedestrian promenade busy with street performers, food vendors, and Bogotanos in a weekend mood.
During the week this same stretch is chaotic traffic, but the Sunday morning experience is worth seeking out. The street passes the entrance of the Museo Nacional, Parque Nacional, and several universities. Street art appears throughout — Colombia has produced some of the world's best muralists, and Bogota's streets are their gallery.
