The Mosque of the Fishermen (Mosquée de la Pêcherie) dates from 1660 and is one of the oldest Ottoman mosques in the city still used for daily prayer. Unlike the more famous Ketchaoua Mosque, this one was never converted to a church and has remained in continuous use as a mosque since it was built. The minaret is slim and elegant, visible from the port district below the Casbah.
Non-Muslims can view the exterior and the courtyard at appropriate times. The mosque is an active place of worship, so visits should be kept brief and respectful. It is a short walk from Place des Martyrs.
