The Pyramid of Neferirkare Kakai is one of the main monuments at Abusir, built for the Fifth Dynasty pharaoh Neferirkare. Although partly ruined, its exposed stepped core makes the construction history unusually easy to read, and the site is a quieter complement to the better-known pyramids at Giza and Saqqara.
