The mausoleum of Ghana's first president sits in landscaped gardens on the spot where Nkrumah declared independence in 1957. The black marble tomb is flanked by a small museum displaying his desk, robes, books, and photographs of him with Nasser, Castro, and Mao. Reopened in 2024 after a long restoration, the site is once again the symbolic heart of independent Ghana.
