Macau Tower

338-metre tower with the world's highest commercial bungee jump

Macau Tower rises 338 metres above the southern tip of the peninsula and is the most visible landmark on the city skyline. The observation deck on the 58th floor offers a 360-degree view that takes in the bridges to Taipa, the Cotai Strip, and on a clear day the mountains of Guangdong province. On the outdoor walkway one level below, you can walk around the outside of the tower with nothing but a harness between you and the harbour far below.

The real draw for thrill-seekers is the bungee jump from the external walkway at 233 metres — the world's highest commercial jump — plus a skywalk and various other adrenaline experiences. For calmer visitors, there are two revolving restaurants and a shopping mall at the base. The tower is a 10-minute taxi ride or bus ride from the old city centre.

A story
The bungee jump from the Macau Tower's external walkway at 233 metres was certified by the Guinness Book of Records as the world's highest commercial bungee jump. A.J. Hackett, the New Zealand entrepreneur who invented commercial bungee jumping, designed the attraction. For those who prefer their vertigo delivered more gradually, a glass floor section inside the observation deck lets you look straight down.
